White Balance Correction Preprocessing

🗺️ Overview

Since all of the available QC checks are desingned with the assumption that the slide background is almost perfectly white, a white balance correction preprocessing option is provided by the service.

The correction identifies background close to the actual tissue and transforms it closer to ideal white. An identical transformation is also applied to the foreground pixels. The corrected tiles are then examined by the selected QC checks. This should significantly improve the accuracy of artifact detection on slides with darker background.

Note

This correction is only used as a preprocessing step for the other QC checks. No additional persistent data are produced when this option is selected.
